Dear Yinka Adesola,

I think grassroot innovations for such tools to suit women needs very important. Share such innovations and traditional knowledge is also important. There is a permanent and persistent initiative on grassroot innovation in India that is worthnoting if you haven't heard about: the Honeybee Network.

Women must be protagonists of technology generation; technology selection and technology adoption. Not only as users, but in the process of innovation and decision-making in choosing and deploying technology.

Best regards,

Rodolfo.

Dear Juliana Mandha,

I do not know anything about Uganda, but your post made me wonder the same question I make myself in my own country: is agriculture policy mainly a pro-poor policy? Or are the efforts (and resources) mainly directed to the big land owners and producers?

Best regards,

Rodolfo.

Dear Abigael,

Totally agree with you about secure tenure of land. Technology can only address problems in which it is an important answer, but cannot solve issues such as the point you mentioned that is structural in keeping the opressive status quo. Another example is access to new markets: local, regional and national companies can slash the new entrants as quick and easy as a blink of an eye.

Best regards,

Rodolfo.

It is paramount to monitor and evaluate what AFDB will do to address gender inequality in agricultural production (program, project, pilot etc.). This will answer the questions:

  • Monitoring: are we doing the things right?
  • Evaluation: are we doing the right things?

Best regards,

Rodolfo.
