In Africa, breast cancer is responsible for one in four diagnosed cancers and one in five cancer deaths in women. As part of the Breat Cancer Awareness week, it is laudable that the Bank is actively trying to sensitive staff on this.
What i find troubling is the picture used for this in the banners propped up out on Ground Floor Entrance of HQ ( i wish i could upload a picture on here).
It is bascially what we would refer to in the UK as a Page 3 model - or the the play boy spread. The image has nothing to do with breast cancer, (like this for example: https://blogforbreastcancer.wordpress.com/2015/02/12/breast-cancer-and-t...) but rather seems like an excuse to showcase breasts. Whilst i have no problem with people celebrating breasts, conflating it with an issue such as breast cancer is disturbing - and loses an oppurtunity to show how to check for signs, instead offering cheap pornography as Bank staff enter a work building.
Would there ever be a picture of mens bodies awareness for prostate or testicular cancer? (as Anne asked).
