October 15 2016 , International Day of Rural Women

The first International Day of Rural Women was observed on October 15, 2008. This day recognizes the role of rural women, including indigenous women, in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and eradicating rural poverty.

The African Development Bank has launched the Gender in Practice Community of Practice (GiP COP), an online resource that seeks to promote information and knowledge sharing on gender equality. The event took place on September 28, 2016 at the Bank’s headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
